BUSBY -

Family of the Crow Indian woman who was burned and left for dead in a field near Busby say she is alive, but the road to recovery will be long and winding.

Cleone Shawl, who said she is the victim’s sister, set up a fundraising account for Rory Lynn RidesHorse to pay for reconstructive surgery.

RidesHorse was discovered burned in a field between Crow and Busby last Sunday.

Shawl said RidesHorse is in a hospital outside of the state where she is being treated for the burns.

Shawl said that not all of the woman's body was burned, but RidesHorse is in critical condition and unable to speak.

"She's in bad shape, but not too bad," said Shawl. "Other people say she's not doing well, but I definitely think she's going to get better. It will take a while, but she will get better."

The fundraising account was set up to help with the costs of reconstructive surgery for RidesHorse’s face and body, Shawl said.

“Lynn was involved in a domestic violence relationship as we know,” said the original fundraising post before it was later edited.

RidesHorse was last seen at the Kirby Saloon before she was found in a field on Sunday.

A bartender at the Saloon said she saw RidesHorse come in with a man and later overheard RidesHorse say she should not be there.

RidesHorse has 6 children, according to Shawl.

The FBI questioned employees and patrons of the Saloon.

The FBI will not provide any details other than to confirm that there is an ongoing investigation.

It is unclear if the suspect has been identified or arrested.

Other official sources have confirmed facts of the crime.
