GREAT FALLS -

CM Russell (11-1, 6-1) entered Tuesday's crosstown softball game as the lone undefeated team in Class AA.

But the Great Falls High School Bison (10-4, 6-3) are considered one of the top hitting teams in the state and produced at the right time against the powerful Rustlers.

Erin Hocker hit a two run home run in the 6th to put the Bison on top, 5-4 and Great Falls High would add insurance in the 7th for a 7-4 win over the best team in state.

"Having a team that that's good and competing with them and getting the win- It's huge," said Bison catch McKenzie Staats.

"It definitely gives us a boost of confidence because now we know that no matter what, as long as we come in and play our best game and play to the best of our ability, we can beat any team in the state," added pitcher Molly Schmitz.

CMR and Great Falls High will play host to Senior and Skyview on Saturday.
