Boulder's Winfield provides lone touchdown in Class B All-Star Game

Posted: Updated:

It was defense, defense, defense all night long at Saturday's Class B All-Star football game.

The South led 2-0 after the first quarter, and 8-0 at the half in a game where they forced 6 turnovers.

Led by Townsend's Jace Lewis and Boulder's Trase LeTexier, the South kept the North out of the end zone in the 3rd lowest scoring contest in the game's history.

The one offensive bright spot came midway through the 4th - when Boulder running back Nick Winfield sprung free for a 53-yard nail in the coffin, directly behind his new best friend.

"They brought out the goal line and I love that because they bring out the big boys and set them right in front of me," said Winfield. "Jake Sessions - 6'5", 280 pounds - and I got right behind him and I sat right behind him until I was 10 yards, then I bounced it.  That kid had a heck of a push on that play and it wouldn't have happened without him."

Sessions echoed Winfield's sentiment.

"I felt him hit me and I just kept driving as best I could and he popped out around.  The kid's got the speed for sure, he deserves that MVP because man he's fast.  He hit that corner and he was gone."

The South defeated the North 14-3.
