HELENA -

Helena Industries is now working with a New York-based company to create products for children with disabilities.

The product is an attachable bag for wheelchair users designed to make it easier to access personal items such as medicine or a wallet.

The non-profit agency provides jobs for people with disabilities, and the new product will be made in the Benchmark Manufacturing building.

The lead designer of the product is Kenna Weiner, a Capital High School graduate, who visited Helena Industries on Monday to talk about the partnership.

Weiner said she is excited to work with a company in the city she grew up in.

“It feels so great to work with people who are doing good because that’s what we’re attempting to do as well, is not just make products out there, but to do good with the products,” said Weiner.

Helena Industries CEO Russ Cargo said, “(To) have an opportunity to manufacture items that will be used by people with disabilities is an incredible opportunity. I think everyone here understands that they’re working on projects that will help people who have similar situations in life that they do."

They hope to formally launch the product in September.
