GREAT FALLS -

Animal lovers came together today at the Maclean Animal Adoption Center to support the 'Furry Friends Project'.

The project is a combined effort to celebrate the Adoption Center's first anniversary along with the birthday of ten year old Adriana Mertz, the Center's biggest fan.

Mertz says she has a passion for helping animals in need and thought her birthday was the perfect excuse to have some fun while also raising money and donations for the animals.

But this isn't the first time Mertz has stepped up to support the organization; she previously raised over $1,000  bagging groceries and worked with Honda of Great Falls to donate $50 to the Center for every car sold during their 'Week of Giving' this past June.

The day featured plenty of kid's activities, including a bouncy house, dunk tank, tire throw along with raffle prizes like a brand new grill.

Mertz says she was pleased with the turnout of events this afternoon, but says she hopes attendees also keep the animals in mind while having fun.

Adriana says her fundraising goal with the Furry Friends Project is $3,000.

"I'm expecting a little bit more in the donation box, but I'm excited, especially when it ends to see where those numbers round up to," said Mertz.

There were also tours inside the Maclean Adoption Center as part of the anniversary celebration along with the chance to take home a furry friend.
