The Peak Health & Wellness Center plans to open a second location in Great Falls.

The new location will be part of the West Bank Landing project along 3rd Street NW.

The development, which also includes a Marriott SpringHill Suites hotel, will feature more than 12 acres of new construction.  Other businesses planned include restaurants, retail, office space, and residential condominiums.

A press release from Jean Vaskey, director of marketing at the Peak, says that new facility will occupy what is commonly referred to as the “Barrel Building” - a brick building constructed in 1940 as an operational base for the Works Progress Administration.

Vaskey says that the building is on the National Historic Register and features a "graceful curved roof" that will be preserved during remodeling.

The facility will include cardio and strength equipment, as well as functional training.   Studios for yoga, Pilates, cycling and group exercise will be located on the second-floor mezzanines.  Vaskey says that it will be a full-service club, with locker rooms/sauna, childcare, and personal training.

She noted they hope to incorporate some of the unique outside space that its location naturally provides.

The Peak currently has about 6,800 members, and the new location will accommodate nearly 3,000.

The Peak at West Bank Landing is expected to open in September 2017.

West Bank Landing officials say that they "are hoping to create an appealing environment for working professionals," and "We are seeking boutique and destination type retail as well as unique restaurants that will bring excitement to the community. The vision for the development is largely built upon active lifestyles."

They also note: "A couple of things you will not see: Casinos, Fast Food Drive Thru's."
