Police investigating "suspicious" deaths of 2 people in East Helena

EAST HELENA -

Authorities are continuing to investigate the deaths of two people in East Helena.

The names of the two people have not yet been released, pending notification of family members.

The bodies were found at a home on Morton Avenue North on Monday.

East Helena Police Chief Dale Aschim told MTN News that the he was called to the residence by a caregiver who found the home locked.

Aschim said that when he saw the body of a woman through a front window, he called for backup.

Officers then found the body of a man in the rear of the house.

Aschim says that the deaths are "suspicious."

The bodies - a 49-year old woman and a 56-year old man - have been taken to the state crime lab in Missoula for autopsy.

Authorities have not released any information about the cause or manner of death.

We will update you as we get more details.


(UPDATE, 1:10 p.m.) The Lewis & Clark County Coroner's Office has identified the two people as Kelly Hart, 49 years old, and James Hart, 56.

The cause and manner of death will be released by the Sheriff's Office once the autopsies have been completed.
