Coroner: Man died of self-inflicted gunshot wound in Butte house explosion

BUTTE -

The man found dead after a device exploded in his home in Butte died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, according to the coroner's office.

The victim is 32-year-old Ryan Simpson of Butte, who was killed after he set off an explosive device in his residence at 420 W. Aluminum St. just before 6 o'clock. The bomb squad from Missoula searched the home and found two more unexploded bombs in the home, as well as gunpowder and several guns. 

The Missoula bomb squad was called to the scene on Saturday night.

    A woman is brain dead after being attacked by two dogs on Saturday morning. A pit bull and pit bull mix mauled Melissa Barnes in the backyard of a property on Love Lane and tonight, the 65-year-old remains on life support in Billings until her organs can be donated.

    UPDATE: Gallatin County Sheriff Brian Gootkin says there are conflicting reports whether the woman has died at this time.  KBZK was told by officials that the woman had died, but those sources now say she may still be alive.
