More details have been released about a stabbing that happened Sunday in Great Falls.
Harold Dean Dowdy, Jr., has been charged with felony assault with a weapon for the incident.
A probable cause affidavit says that Dowdy had spent Saturday night at the home of an acquaintance, and the acquaintance and Dowdy had agreed that Dowdy would leave the residence by 8 a.m. on Sunday.
On Sunday morning at about 7:20, according to court documents, the acquaintance woke Dowdy up and told him that he had 40 minutes left. Dowdy then became upset and the two began arguing.
The two struggled briefly, and Dowdy then took out a knife that he wore on his hip. The victim tried to grab the knife, and Dowdy thrust the knife at him.
The affidavit says that it "appears the knife went across (the victim's) left arm and punctured the side of his abdomen."
The victim told police that Dowdy said, "Better call the cops" in an "almost sarcastic voice" and then walked out of the residence.
When police officers arrived to investigate, the victim had blood dripping from his arm, and a large blood stain was covering part of his shirt.
The police officer noted that the victim was "somewhat calm" and "almost dismissive" of the incident, stating, "It's just a small poke."
The victim showed the officer the injury, which the officer described as an approximately 3/4-inch puncture wound on the left side of his abdomen.
When Dowdy was arrested and being taken to jail, he reportedly asked if the victim was OK, and said that he didn't mean to "get him that bad."
Court documents state that Dowdy has convictions dating back to 1989 for theft, burglary, obstructing a peace officer, criminal contempt, DUI, partner/family member assault, criminal possession of dangerous drugs, disorderly conduct, deceptive practices, and criminal possession of dangerous drugs.
Prosecutors requested that bond for Dowdy be set at $15,000.
