"World Vision Global 6K for Water" coming to Great Falls in May

GREAT FALLS -

World Vision is organizing "Global 6K For Water" events in May, and one will be held in Great Falls.

So far, nearly two dozen people have registered to participate in the event, which will be at West Bank Park on May 6th.

Promotional material for the event states:

THIS SPRING, CHANGE A LIFE. Join us and advocates across the globe in our mission to bring clean water and fullness of life to children in communities around the world.

Walk, run, or push a stroller with us at the World Vision Global 6K for Water on May 6th, 2017. Each registration provides lasting clean water to a child and on race day, you walk/run with a picture of a child who will receive water thanks to your registration fee!

The event is called the World Vision Global 6K for Water, and already there are more than 8,210 people registered to participate at 674 host sites worldwide.

The distance is 6 kilometers (3.72 miles) because that is the average distance people in the developing world, particularly in Africa, walk every day to collect water that is often unsafe to drink.

The registration fee is $50, which represents the cost to bring lasting clean water to one person. For youth 15 and under, the fee is $25.

World Vision is offering $10 registration discounts through midnight Sunday, April 9, with the promotion code WWD2017.

Registrants each receive a T-shirt, finisher’s medal and a race bib that features the name and picture of a child who will benefit from this effort.
