Jones pleads guilty for DUI crash in Great Falls that injured two women

GREAT FALLS -

Brenda Lee Jones, charged with felony criminal endangerment following a head on crash in 2015, changed her plea to guilty on Wednesday.

Court documents state that in June 2015, Jones was driving on River Road when she crossed the centerline and collided with another vehicle.

Two women were in the other vehicle.

Doctors were initially unsure if one of the women would survive; she sustained fractures to both femurs, several broken ribs, a broken clavicle, two broken wrists, and several internal injuries.

Court documents state Jones admitted drinking three beers prior to driving, and that she had taken Oxycodone several hours earlier. 

In exchange for her guilty plea, Jones will serve five years with all suspended, and enroll in drug treatment court.

She will be formally sentenced once a restitution amount is finalized.


(JUNE 30, 2015) Brenda Lee Jones, the woman accused of causing a head-on crash last week on River Road, is facing several charges.

Jones is charged with felony negligent vehicular assault, felony criminal endangerment, and misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol. 

According to court documents, Great Falls police responded to the crash along the 2900 block of River Drive North at around 12:30 a.m. on June 21st. 

Two vehicles, a Chevy Malibu and a Ford F-350, had hit head-on.

The Malibu was in a ditch on the south side of the road, while the F-350 was laying on its passenger side. 

Court documents state two women were trapped inside the Malibu, and one was trapped inside the F-350. 

A witness told officers the F-350 had been driving erratically and it crossed the center-line before hitting the Chevy.

Fire crews were called in to extricate the two women inside the Malibu. 

The driver of the F-350 also required extrication, and was subsequently identified as Jones. 

All three were taken to Benefis hospital. 

According to court records, doctors were initially unsure if one of the women would make survive; she sustained "severe" fractures to both femurs, several broken ribs, a broken clavicle, two broken wrists, and several internal injuries. The other victim sustained a concussion and dislocated ankle.
