GREAT FALLS -

Construction season is underway in Montana, and for people driving south on I-15 toward Great Falls, you may encounter delays due to the highway being repaved.

According to the Montana Department of Transportation, from now until mid- September, a stretch of I-15 South from mile marker (Emerson Junction) to mile marker 286 (Manchester) will be under construction.

Drivers can expect paving activities; width restriction of 12 feet; reduced speed of 65 miles per hour, and single-lane closures.

Additional information from the MDT website:

  • Wide loads will follow a pilot car from 8 AM to 10 AM Monday thru Thursday. This will be in effect until mid-September.
  • There are staging areas for the wide loads to park.
  • - The northbound staging area is at the Gore Hill truck stop by the airport.
  • - The southbound staging area is at the pullout between the Vaughn and Manchester exits at MP 288.
  • There will be signs to direct wide loads to these locations.
