Colonel Allen marks one year at Malmstrom Air Force Base

Posted: Updated:

It has been over a year since Colonel Ron Allen took over command of Malmstrom Air Force Base.

"Well you can't have a 365 24 hour a day mission and not have challenges and we have certainly have had some this year," Allen said.

Allen says the airmen of the 341st Missile Wing always find a way to take on those challenges and turn them into successes.

"We have had three major inspects that we have pasted with flying colors. We have obviously provided our mission successfully and continuously every day single day of the year. We have completed our New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty obligations a year early which enable us to get into our program depot maintenance early on our launch facilities," Allen said.

The 819th RED HORSE unit also had a successful deployment this year as well.

Allen says the capability the wing provides is the foundational element in strategic deterrence that helps support the United States and their allies.

"That deterrence force has continued to enable a world free of major conflict amongst major world powers for over 70 years," Allen said.

"It is important to listen to our airman concerns cause we are blessed to be in a position to help. The only we can help if I know what there concerns and there issues are. We continue to solicit feedback an have open forms of communication," Allen said.

Some of the issues leadership continues to work on is the gym, Commissary, the Base Exchange, and anything that is importance to the airman and there families.

Allen say moving forward the focus will be on base's core values: the continuing focus of the mission, airman and their families and modernizing the intercontinental ballistic missile.

"As long as we continue to keep those priorities straight and as long as we keep our mission focus and our airman resilient and productive we will do amazing things here at Malmstrom," Allen said.

Allen wants to keep learning as much as he can about the airmen that service the nation at Malmstrom Air Force Base.
