Motorcyclists host Poker Fun Run to help Great Falls Rescue Mission

Posted: Updated:

The Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association hosted a Poker Fun Run on Saturday to gather food for the Cameron Family Center at the Great Falls Rescue Mission.

The entry fee for motorcycle riders to enter the poker run was not money, but instead $10  worth of non-perishable food.

Just like a hand of cards in a poker run, the motorcycle riders drew one card at each of the five stops on the run.

They drew their first card at Great Falls before they departed, and then they drove to Fairfield, Choteau, Augusta, and ended in Vaughn.

The winner got $50 in cash, while the rider who drew the worst hand got a free bottle of liquor from the Silver Spur Bar in Vaughn.

Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association Member, James Reed explained: “At any time, whether you’re part of this ride or not, come down and support. If you’ve got extra food in your pantry, come drop it off at the Rescue Mission. If you buy something and you think “oh my kids are gonna love this cereal, and they never open it like my kids do, come give that cereal down here to the Rescue Mission, they’ll put it to work.”

The Rescue Mission is hosting a Back To School Fun drive on August 27th where they will hand out backpacks filled with school supplies to roughly 600 kids.

People can donate school supplies to the Rescue Mission for that effort from now until August 27th.
