Stephen Herrig of Leavenworth, Kansas, has been named as the new Great Falls Park & Recreation director.
Herrig currently serves as the Recreation Manager for Blue Valley Recreation Commission in Overland Park, Kansas. where he manages 16 full-time employees, about 350 seasonal staff, and a $3.2 million budget.
His duties include operating a Recreation Center and a Sports Complex for a population base of 135,000.
Prior to his current position, he was the Recreation Supervisor for the City of Leavenworth, Kansas, for 15 years.
Great Falls City Manager Greg Doyon said that the recruitment firm received several applicants for the position.
Doyon said in a press release, “Steve brings a wealth of experience, knowledge, and professionalism to the City’s Park and Recreation Department. Steve is excited about moving to Great Falls and is eager to become part of the community.”
Herrig stated, “I am very excited to become part of the Great Falls team and can’t wait to work with staff and the community as we move the department into the future.”
Herrig will begin work the week of November 27.
Herrig replaces Joe Petrella, who left the position in January 2017 to work in Arizona.
