Mary Proud, a first grade teacher at Roosevelt Elementary School, was recently presented with a $250 check from KRTV and First Interstate Bank as part of our One Class At A Time program.
Proud will use the money to help with age and size appropriate flexible seating options.
She says they currently have exercise balls in the room but they are too big for her students.
Their other options are to sit in a chair, sit on the ground with a clip board, or sit in a tire chair that Proud made.
More choices will allow for students to chose what they feel their body needs that day.
"Every kid learns different and every kid is comfortable in a different way," said Proud. 'So the goal this year was to make them feel comfortable in how they are learning so they get to chose during learning time how they want to sit."
Proud says she plans to purchase the right size exercise balls for her students, as well as wiggle seats and wiggles stools.
