Marlon Tramell Crutchfield of Helena has been charged following a violent confrontation on Wednesday.
Crutchfield is charged with partner/family member assault, and assault with a weapon.
The incident happened on Wednesday evening when a woman went into a Helena business saying she was scared for her life. Crutchfield entered the business afterwards looking for the victim while she was hiding in a restroom.
The victim told officers that earlier in the day, Crutchfield had pushed her down and pulled her across the floor while she was attempting to leave their relationship of two years.
Court documents say the two fought over the her car keys. Crutchfield reportedly got hold of the keys and began driving away with the woman in the back seat.
Officers say Crutchfield then hit the woman three times with a curling iron in the moving vehicle.
The woman told a Sheriff's deputy she thought she was going to die during the incident.
In addition to the two felony charges, Crutchfield is also facing petition to revoke charges on two PFMA convictions in Lewis & Clark County Justice Court.
Bond for Crutchfield was set at $25,000.
