Technology continues to develop and improve, which helps teachers incorporate new ways to educate their students.
Whittier Elementary Teacher Cara Dunn said her One Class at a Time grant will help purchase more equipment and online programs to use with the technology in their classroom.
Dunn said her Whittier Elementary class has been using Chromebooks this year.
The technology allows the class to access interactive programs that meet students' needs on an individual basis.
Dunn said the grant money will help her purchase earbuds for each Chromebook, along with subscriptions to new educational games and programs.
Those include curriculum in math and spelling along with online reading programs and tests.
"I have such a diverse (class), I've got kids that are two, three years behind and they're learning and those that are advanced and so that way it allows me to choose a lesson that's actually at their needs and reach all of my kids," Dunn said.
She added the grant is much needed as some of her students have brought their own headphones from home, but many of her students can't afford a pair.
