The Salvation Army in Great Falls posted the following message on Facebook on Wednesday:
We would like to raise some awareness to the community of some things that have been happening at our East thrift store location.
Since our thrift store closed we have had multiple incidents of property destruction, damage and theft.
People are cutting our locks on both the donation box and gates, bending and breaking our gates, and stealing the donations.
They have even gone as far as then putting their own locks on our donation box!!
We are to the point where we no longer want people dropping donations off at our East location to try to help others in the community, just to be stolen by these unkind people doing these things.
PLEASE share this to raise awareness of the things taking place, and to make people aware that we are asking you to no longer take donations to the East location as it will just be taken.
Please bring any donations you have to our West location at 616 1st Ave NW or call for a pickup.
The location of the former thrift store is 4910 10th Avenue South; it closed in October (click here for details).
