The Montana Highway Patrol is investigating a crash in Glacier County.

According to the MHP, at least one person has died.

The crash was reported to the MHP at 4:47 p.m. on Tuesday.

It happened on State Highway 464 near mile marker 29 several miles east of Babb.

There is no word yet on the cause of the crash.

We will update you when we get more information.

UPDATE: The MHP says that a 75-year old man from Lakeside died in the one-vehicle crash.

He was northbound on 464 when the vehicle drifted off the right side of the road.

Due to snow, the vehicle continued down a steep embankment and struck a barbed wire fence and a rock with its back right tire before coming to rest at the bottom of the embankment.

MHP officials say the roads were covered in snow and ice, and speeding is suspected as a factor.

The victim was wearing seatbelt, but died at the scene.

A 74-year old woman was a passenger; she, too, was wearing a seatbelt, and did not sustain life-threatening injuries.

The name of the man has not yet been released.
