Great Falls residents are encouraged by city officials to recycle their live Christmas trees at the following locations:
Meadowlark Park – Fox Farm and Park Garden Road
Snyder Drug parking lot – 2500 6th Ave. N
Twilite Center Lot - Smelter Avenue NE (Not 2J’s Market)
Malmstrom AFB – 110 South Perimeter Parking Lot
The drop-off locations will be available until January 9th.
Christmas tree recycling containers will be provided at each location.
Before recycling your Christmas tree remove all lights, decorations, tree stands etc. Flocked trees cannot be recycled.
Deposit only your live Christmas tree in the containers. Commercial trees are not being accepted.
Live Christmas trees are biodegradable, which means they can be reused or recycled for other purposes.
The recycled Christmas trees will be composted or used to improve fish habitat.
The Christmas Tree Recycling Project is sponsored by the City of Great Falls and Montana Waste Systems. For more information contact Public Works at 771-1401 or Montana Waste Systems at 761-2545.
NOTE: The press release from the City of Great Falls stated that a tree recycling bin would be located at 2Js grocery store on Smelter Avenue NE. We were informed Saturday that this is not correct. The City website now states that the Riverview drop-off location is in the Twilite Center lot.
