One man died in a two-vehicle collision on Interstate 90 near the Lockwood exit on Thursday night.
Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Justin Moran said a Ford pickup truck was merging onto the interstate shortly after 5 p.m. at the U.S. 87/ MetraPark exit when it spun into the path of a semi truck and trailer.
The semi struck the pickup and it hit a guardrail, ejecting the driver, who died at the scene, Moran said.
The name of the victim has not yet been released.
Two people were in the semi and were not injured, he said.
Moran said the icy roads were a factor. The exit was closed briefly following the crash.
The investigation continues, and Moran said he does not believe alcohol was a factor or that charges would be filed against the semi driver.
UPDATE: The victim has been identified as John Patrick King of Billings; he was 40 years old.
