Hundreds of people are without power in Great Falls.
The outage was sparked by a fire on a power pole along 9th Street between 1st Avenue North and 2nd Avenue North.
According to NorthWestern Energy, the outage is affecting 1,918 customers.
"Customers" refers to a business or a residence, so the number of people without electricity is often much higher than that figure.
At this point, the utility company estimates that power will be fully restored by about 5:30 p.m.
Firefighters are asking people to avoid the area if possible.
NorthWestern Energy cut the power to the line and extinguished the fire. They are worried about the wind pushing the pole down and causing a hazard in the area.
The alley will be blocked as work continues for several hours.
Safety reminder: if traffic lights are not working due to a power outage, the intersection must be treated as a four-way stop.
We will update you if we get more information.
