The City Manager’s Office announced on Monday that it will conduct a “City 101” Academy.
It will consist of six sessions designed to offer participants a look at how City government works.
Elected leaders and city staff will conduct the sessions.
Classes will be held in the Gibson Room of the Civic Center on the last Thursday of each month from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. Classes will begin July 26 and run through December 27.
Topics that will be covered include: Overview of City Commission/Manager form of government; responsibilities of the City Manager, Deputy City Manager and the City Clerk; Citizen’s roles on City Advisory Boards; Commissions and Neighborhood Councils; and introductions into each City Department.
Registration is open through Friday July 13.
There is no cost to participants.

Class size is limited so early registration is encouraged.
