Richard “Tex” Lewis, 83, of Great Falls passed away on September 19, 2020.

Tex was born on December 7, 1936 in Montgomery county, Pennsylvania to Margaret (Lewis) Smith. He was raised in Conshohocken and Norristown, PA before setting off on a military career. In 1953 he became a Marine, and served his country proudly in the Korean War. He then joined the United States Air Force in 1958. The Air Force sent him to Korat, Thailand in support of the Vietnam War.

In 1959 he met his true love, Katherine, and on March 24th of that year the two were wed. They lived the first few years in Fairfield, CA while Tex was stationed at Travis Air Force Base. The young family moved extensively, as military families do. Eventually they found themselves stationed in New Jersey at McGuire Air Force Base, then at Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi, Peterson Field in Colorado, Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii, McCord Air Force Base in Washington, Hill Air Force Base in Utah, and finally at Malmstrom Air Force Base. He retired from the Air Force in 1975 to raise a family, hunt, fish and read.

Tex had a million stories and loved to tell them to his children, grandchildren, or anyone who would listen.
