Her song about her milkshake bringing all the boys to the yard has become ubiquitous since its release over 15 years ago. But now, singer Kelis wants something a little spicier.

Whether it’s pineapple saffron or ginger sesame, apricot mustard or spicy aji, Kelis has got the sauce — literally. In aninterview with food magazine Bon Appetit, the singer talked about her sauce brand, Bounty & Full, which she founded in 2015.

“Food is revolutionary because it is the one and only international language,” she told the magazine. “It’s the most human thing you can partake in. We are the only species that cooks.

“I think spice brings excitement,” she said of her sauces.

Kelis graduated from famed culinary school Le Cordon Bleu in 2008 but said her mother first inspired her love of food. Though Kelis didn’t specialize while in culinary school, her website says she knew that she was a saucier at heart.

“I fell in love with sauces because they define who we are as people — culture, ethnicity, character,” she wrote on her website.

After graduating from Le Cordon Bleu, Kelis published a cookbook in 2015, “My Life on a Plate: Recipes from Around the World.” She also has a YouTube channel where she posts videos of her cooking using some of Bounty & Full’s sauces.

She recently became co-owner of Bounty Farms in Colombia, which grows coffee, tomatoes and other produce. The farm is set to open to the public in 2021.

“My goal with the farm is to regain control of how we eat and reconnect ourselves with the food we love,” she told Bon Appetit.
