2 more bear sightings reported at UM

MISSOULA — The University of Montana reported two more bear sightings on campus Saturday.

The first alert was reported by the University of Montana Police Department at around 5 a.m. Saturday near Pantzer Hall.

A second alert was issued at approximately 7:30 p.m. for reports of a bear was near Bark Park, Van Buren Walking Bridge, and the Kim Williams Trail.

UMPD said officers are patrolling the area and Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks were notified about both of Saturday's sightings.

This is the eighth and ninth bear sighting UM has reported near campus since October 23. UMPD says the bears were not reported to be aggressive and asks that you be aware of your surroundings.

Anyone who sees a bear near campus is asked to contact UMPD at (406) 243-4000 or to call 911. The information will be forwarded to FWP to assist with their relocation efforts.
