MISSOULA – Veterans struggling with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) often find themselves isolated from their communities and families.
But one nonprofit hopes to engage veterans in their community and help them enjoy the natural beauty of the Treasure State.
Xsports4vets held their second annual fundraiser in Florence Building on Saturday to support their excursions.
The group offers sporting trips for veterans ranging from whitewater rafting to aviation to deep country backpacking.
The eight-year old-organization held an auction and a silent auction as well as a dinner with live music to raise money.
Xsports4vets Director Steven Hale said it is a necessity to safeguard returning veterans.
"Veterans are still coming home, and you know, we still have a war going on and programs like ours need to be around," Hale said.
Around 200 community members came out to support the cause.
