A video posted to Facebook on Tuesday shows an adult and several students yelling and pushing each other on a school bus in Great Falls.

The adult, wearing an orange safety vest, is an aide.

A cover image on the video, put in place by Facebook, states: "The is video may show violence against a child or teenager. We haven’t removed it from Facebook because it may help rescue the child in question."

According to Great Falls Public Schools, the incident happened on Monday, April 9 on bus #45. The bus picked up students at North Middle School and was waiting for students to board from C.M. Russell High School while parked in the bus waiting area.

Barbara Stucker, manager of Big Sky Bus Lines, has confirmed with KRTV that it was a bus aide who was involved, and said that aide has been suspended as the investigation continues.

Superintendent Lacey released the following information:

The bus incident in question happened on Monday, April 9 on Bus #45.  This bus had picked up students at North Middle School at the end of their school day and was waiting for students to board from CMR after their dismissal.  Bus #45 along with other buses was parked in the CMR bus waiting area.  There were obviously events leading up to the portion of the video that is posted on social media and of course, events after.  The District is thoroughly investigating the entire sequence of happenings.  The District is working cooperatively with Big Sky Bus Lines, their employees, student witnesses and the CMR staff to determine the facts of the matter.

In the meantime, Big Sky Bus Lines will reiterate with their staff about the importance of appropriately managing and de-escalating behavior. The District will also work to enhance supervision while buses are waiting.  Bus rules will continue to be enforced.  They can be found by clicking here.

The safety of students while traveling to and from school, as well as while in school, are priorities for Great Falls Public Schools.  In order to be successful, the responsibility for safety is shared by GFPS staff, contracted staff such as those of Big Sky Bus Lines, parents and students.  To that end, appropriate action will be taken regarding this incident once the investigation is complete.
