The Cascade County Zoning Board of Adjustments approved a new solar project that will be built in Black Eagle.
The project by Pacific Northwest Solar will be located along Bootlegger Trail, just north of Great Falls.
Project representative Ryan Meyer said this is a smaller scale project that is called a single access tracker system.
This system will have panels that follow the sun throughout the day and this will reduce the glare.
It is also near good transmission lines that are already in place.
"The project itself will absolutely interject additional dollars in the community by the way of construction efforts. It is about a three month construction time line for projects of this size. And after that it is an unmanned facility and requires fairly infrequent maintenance,” Meyer said.
The new solar farm will be about 30 acres and they are hoping to have it up and running by the end of the year.
