Kaitlyn Pearson has been charged with one felony and two misdemeanors after she allegedly assaulted a student and a police officer at Great Falls High School.
The incident happened on Wednesday, April 18th; at about 10:50 a.m., a student entered the office of School Resource Officer Cory Reeves and said that a female student – later identified as Pearson – was trying to fight her in the cafeteria.
The probable cause affidavit says that Pearson then "came running" into Reeves’ office and attacked the girl, throwing her against a filing cabinet and punching her.
Reeves got up to restrain Pearson, and she began attacking him; court documents allege that Pearson punched Reeves in the chest several times. Reeves forced her to the ground, and she continued to punch and kick him, and pushed Reeves into the doorframe, causing Reeves’ head to "bounce off the wall" and making him dizzy.
Reeves then warned Pearson that if she did not stop, she would be Tased, but she continued fighting, so Reeves applied the Taser, but it had no effect on Pearson, according to the charging documents.
According to Reeves,she continued fighting for more than three minutes; at that point, other officers arrived and assisted in arresting her.
Court documents state that when the handcuffs were removed at the jail, Pearson also started fighting the corrections officers.
Reeves sustained cuts and bruises to his head, elbows, right ear, knees, and left hand.
The affidavit also notes that the sheetrock in Reeves’ office was damaged in the incident.
Pearson, 18 years old, has been charged with felony assault on a peace officer, misdemeanor assault, and misdemeanor resisting arrest.
Prosecutors have requested that bond for Pearson be set at $10,000.
