The United States Fish and Wildlife Service announced on Friday that it is moving forward with its plan to remove grizzly bears in Yellowstone National Park from the Endangered Species Act.
There had been reports of the plan being modified, which would make the process longer.
Senator Steve Daines applauded the announcement stating he looks forward to working with both federal agencies and the state to manage the grizzly bear population.
In 1975, when the government put grizzly bears on the Endangered Species List, there were only 136 grizzly bears left.
Today, there are 700 or more in Yellowstone.
