Teresa Schreiner with the Department of Labor at Great Falls Job Service stopped by KRTV to talk about an upcoming youth job fair.

The job fair takes place Wednesday, May 2, from 3:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. at the Paris Gibson Education Center Gym.

The event is geared towards young people ages 15-24 who are looking for a first-time job or to start a career. Employers will be looking to interview and hire workers on the spot during the job fair.

Schreiner says the worker shortage in Cascade County is nothing new, but it indicates the county has persistent and low unemployment rates, which means there are currently more jobs than there are workers.

She says a variety of trades will be at the fair, ranging from food service and retail to heavy machinery and human services.

New this year, Job Service Workforce Consultants will be hosting Prep Workshops for job seekers every 15 minutes.
