(GREAT FALLS) Some high school seniors put on their cap and gowns a little early on Tuesday to support the Graduation Matters initiative.

Students from the Class of 2018 at Great Falls High School walked the halls of Lincoln Elementary School, where they were met with high-fives and cheers from younger students.

The soon-to-be graduates walked through several of the elementary schools in Great Falls to not only remind themselves how far they’ve come, but also to inspire others to stay in school.

“It feels good because they’ll want to look forward to graduating, like seeing us all come here and talk with them and stuff,” said Madison Hawse, a graduating student at GFHS. “I feel like it’ll really impact them into wanting to graduate and wanting to get there.”

Last year, an estimated 83.2% of Great Falls students graduated on time, about 11.2% higher than before the Graduation Matters program launched several years ago.
