Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks will host a public meeting in Loma on May 22nd to talk about prairie grizzly bears.
Grizzlies historically roamed eastern Montana’s prairie, but in the last century diminished to smaller, more mountainous areas of 
Montana.
Now, as state and federal conservation efforts have increased the bear’s numbers, more grizzlies are returning to the prairie.
During the forum, Wesley Sarmento, an FWP bear management specialist, will talk about how the agency is handling grizzly bear expansion on the prairie east of the Rocky Mountain Front.
Sarmento will also explain what to do during a bear encounter, how to use bear spray, how to protect harvested game, how to deter a bear using non-lethal tools, and how to "bear-proof" property.
The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 22nd, at Ma’s Cafe; the meeting is free and open to all.
