The Sears Hometown store in Great Falls is closing.

The 6,600-square-foot store is located next to JC Penney on the upper level of Holiday Village Mall.

Sears Hometown Stores primarily sell home appliances, lawn and garden equipment, tools, and hardware.

The store posted the following message on Facebook several days ago: "We are closing soon! Stop by for AMAZING discounts on appliances, tools & more! Tomorrow (6/8) through 7/23!"

There is no word yet on the official closure date. The store opened in November 2015.

The full-scale Sears store in Holiday Village Mall closed in December 2014; that space is now occupied by Hobby Lobby and PetSmart.

Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores Inc., which was spun off in 2012 by Sears Holdings Corp., said last week that it plans to close up to 100 of its 882 stores this quarter to reduce costs, according to MarketWatch.

Most Sears Hometown stores are run by independent dealers and franchisees. In March, Sears Hometown started a print, digital, and TV ad campaign, emphasizing that the locations are independently owned and run by people who don’t work for Sears.

(NOVEMBER 2015) A Sears Hometown Store will open in Great Falls in late November.

The 6,600-square-foot store will be located next to JCPenney on the upper level of Holiday Village Mall.

Sears Hometown Stores primarily sell home appliances, lawn and garden equipment, tools and hardware.

The exact date of the opening has not yet been announced.

A press release says that the owner of the store is Havre resident Terry Parsons; this is the third Hometown store he owns and operates in Montana, all located within shopping centers.

Parsons said, "I’ve found that regional shopping centers, especially Holiday Village Mall, provide excellent visibility and a great customer base. The mall’s location just off I-15, the main corridor through Montana, provides easy access for customers coming from central Montana and southern Alberta, Canada seeking the Sears brand."

The store will carry a selection of home appliance brands including Kenmore, Maytag, Whirlpool, Bosch, and Frigidaire, plus Craftsman tools and an assortment of lawn and garden equipment, and fitness equipment.

If a product is not available in the store, they can order any product from the entire merchandise selection offered by Sears.

The store will accept the Sears Master Card and offer Sears nationwide service, parts, and installation.

The full-scale Sears store in Holiday Village Mall closed about a year ago.
