(GREAT FALLS) A press release from Helena-Lewis & Clark National Forest says that part of the Crystal Lake Recreation Site has been reopened to the public.
The site was closed last year due to hazard trees that posed a safety threat to recreationists.
Forest officials have cleared hazard trees from the Crystal Lake Boat Launch and day use site, but say people should still use caution.
While the two areas are now back open, the Crystal Lake Campground, Group Use Site, and Ice Caves Trailhead remain closed.
Ongoing work to remove hazard trees continues in these areas, which are blocked off from public entry.
The release says closed areas in the site will reopen as work is completed and after it is safe for campers.
The slash piles and log decks are also marked and not available for firewood.
Forest officials ask the public to avoid the closed areas, log decks, and slash piles.
