The Great Falls Police Department released the following information on Thursday:
We are extremely proud to serve alongside our federal law enforcement partners, and we are especially grateful to have a close relationship with the United States Marshals Service and the Montana Violent Offenders Task Force.
We have long been a member of the Task Force, providing officers, equipment, and support when needed.
This past February we took advantage of the opportunity to further enhance our partnership with the Marshals Service by assigning an officer as a full-time member of the task force, and working side by side with the Russell Country Drug Task Force.
This position was assigned in an effort to stem the rise of violent crime and remove our most wanted fugitives from our community.
Since the change in February the Task Force has cleared 311 cases and seized eight handguns, five long guns, ammunition, 5056.75 grams of Methamphetamine, 95.6 grams of marijuana, eight Oxycodone pills, 398 grams of heroin, assorted drug paraphernalia, $36,819 in criminal proceeds, and five vehicles.
Due to these efforts 311 criminals have been arrested and are no longer able to commit crimes on the streets of Great Falls, or in the surrounding communities.
We would like to thank the Marshals Service for its unwavering partnership, and the Great Falls community for its assistance in making the Task Force such a success. Without the participation, and determination of our community members to help us make Great Falls a better place, these results could not be achieved.
