Alexander Thomas Pearson faces 15 felony counts of sexual abuse of children after detectives found several videos of child pornography connected to his Dropbox account.

According to court documents, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s CyberTipline received a report from Dropbox indicating that an email upload possibly had images of child pornography.

The images were uploaded in November 2016 from an IP address that was geo-located to an internet service provider in Great Falls.

A detective with the Great Falls Police Department obtained a search warrant to open the video files in December of 2016. Upon opening the files, the detective determined that all 15 met the statutory criteria for sexual abuse of children.

The court documents state that a summons through Homeland Security was obtained for the IP address with subscriber information. Using police databases, the detective learned that Pearson was residing at the address. His name matched the name contained in several of the email addresses connected to the videos.

In September of 2017, the detective spoke with Pearson who denied the email account was connected to his Dropbox. He admitted to previously having 500 videos on the account he deleted although he stated the videos were legal pornography.

Court documents continued that Pearson admitted to looking at child pornography and stated he was trying to stop viewing it.

The detective asked to use the Chrome application on Pearson’s cell phone, which he granted. Immediately upon opening the application, the detective saw several images of child pornography. The detective closed the application and read Pearson his Miranda rights.

His bond has been set at $50,000.
