On the 4th of July, the Eagle Mount Activity Center was broken into and a truck, an automated external defibrillator, and several other items were stolen.

What hurt the Montana Vet Program the most, however, was the loss of their pig egg.

"It was more than a punch in the gut. There is a responsibility that comes with our pig egg and I feel that we failed,” Luke Urick, program director, said.

The pig egg is the core of their program and it travels with the group on their veteran-lead therapeutic adventure trips.

It contains almost 7,000 dog tags of the men and women who have died in Iraq and Afghanistan.

“The core of our message is to suffer well and for individuals to try to deal with some of the issues that they come home with from Iraq and Afghanistan,” Urick said.

On Tuesday night, Urick learned that the Great Falls Police Department had recovered the pig egg during a traffic stop.

"It goes missing July 4th and then about a month later, the day before our trip into the Absarokee Beartooth, we get the pig egg back so it can accompany us,” Urick said.

Urick was convinced they would never see the pig egg again.

"Finally, I would like to say it is not going to go missing again,” Urick said.

The pig egg was returned to the group on Wednesday morning.
