A 24-year-old man from Washington died in a crash on Saturday west of Missoula while a 21-year-old Red Lodge man died in a head-on collision near Laurel on Sunday.
The Washington man died in a crash on Interstate 90 just west of Saltese in Mineral County about eight miles from Lookout Pass shortly after 9 p.m. on Saturday
Authorities said the driver — a 26-year-old woman from Kirkland, Washington — was headed west on I-90 when she lost control of her Toyota SUV, and went into the median, causing the vehicle to roll several times.
The male passenger from Port Orchard, Washington was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Shoshone, Idaho with what are said to be minor injuries.
The 21-year-old Red Lodge man died Sunday after a two vehicle crash near Laurel on Highway 212 around 8:30 a.m.
The man was driving a Chevy Suburban northbound when he lost control of his vehicle and crossed over the center line for unknown reasons.
He collided head-on with a semi driven by a 54-year-old man from Billings.
The semi veered off and ended up in the northbound ditch, while the suburban rolled and came to rest in the southbound ditch.
The driver of the Suburban was pronounced dead on scene. Drugs are considered a factor in the crash.
The names of both victims have not yet been released.
