GREAT FALLS — As the COVID-19 vaccine rolls out across the country, the Urban Indian Health Institute is asking Native Americans for their input about it.
All Native Americans and Alaskan Natives across the country are encouraged to fill it out by December 30.
The survey asks questions about their knowledge of and opinions about the vaccine. The results will be used to create a national educational campaign.
"We will be compiling resources about the COVID vaccine. So things such as videos, fliers, and posters to make sure native people have the best and accurate information available to them,” said UIHI spokesperson and Blackfeet member Jessica Magee.
"We have been getting about 100 responses a day, but I would like it to be 1,000 responses a day. We are offering great raffles and prizes right before the holiday to encourage people to do that,” said UIHI director Abigail Echo-Hawk.
She says even people who don’t plan to get the vaccine should fill out the survey.
The Seattle-based organization says: "Through an online survey, you will answer questions about your knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs surrounding the COVID-19 vaccine. There are no right or wrong answers. The survey should take around 15-20 minutes to complete. Upon completing the survey, you will have the opportunity to provide your name and email address to be entered into a raffle for 15+ $50 Amazon gift cards, four $500 gift cards for Bethany Yellowtail, Eighth Generation, Beyond Buckskin, and Manitobah Mukluks, and even more prizes. You must be 18 years or older and identify as American Indian/Alaska Native to participate."
