CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon announced Saturday that Wyoming will soon resume normal operating hours for bars and restaurants in the state.

Gordon praised the people of Wyoming in a news release, crediting their actions for a statewide decline in COVID-19 hospitalizations.

The resumption of normal hours takes effect Jan. 9, allowing bars and restaurants to offer on-site consumption again from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

As part of the updated health orders, gyms will also be able to to increase group fitness classes from 10 to 25 people.

“Thank you to the people of Wyoming who recognized the strain on their hospitals and health care workers and acted accordingly,” Gordon said. “I also want to express my gratitude to those businesses that adapted to these temporary measures. These have not been easy times for anyone We are not out of the woods yet, but continued personal safety measures while the vaccine is being distributed will enable our state’s schools and businesses to continue to remain open.”

According to the release, Wyoming hospitals reported 113 COVID-19 hospitalizations as of Dec. 30, down from a peak of 247 on Nov. 30.

There were 223 COVID-19 deaths reported in Wyoming for the month of December, the highest number since the pandemic began in March.

Wyoming is currently distributing the COVID-19 vaccine in a phased approach due to limited availability.
