(GREAT FALLS) Brian Douglas Eagle of Poplar admitted sex abuse charges in federal court on Monday.
He tried to assault the victim while she was taking a shower, U.S. Attorney Kurt G. Alme said in a press release on Tuesday.
Eagle pleaded guilty to abusive sexual contact.
He faces up to 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and five years to life supervised release.
If the case had gone to trial, the government would have presented the following information as evidence:
On February 7, 2018 in Poplar, on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation, a woman was taking a shower by herself in her home when she saw a shadow. Eagle then entered the shower.
He was naked and pushed the victim to a corner of the shower. Court documents state that Eagle had a knife, and the victim was afraid because he was armed. Eagle had the victim touch his genitals before letting her get out of the shower.
The victim got dressed and ran to another house; she then contacted law enforcement.
U.S. District Judge Brian M. Morris presided at the hearing.
Sentencing is set for March 21, 2019. Eagle is currently detained.
