GREAT FALLS — Justin Zane Gobert of Browning has been indicted on charges of sexually assaulting a young girl.

Gobert appeared in federal court in Great Falls on December 2nd before U.S. Magistrate Judge John Johnston and pleaded not guilty.

Court documents allege that in June 2017, Gobert "knowingly engaged in sexual contact with 'Jane Doe,' and at the time of the sexual contact, Jane Doe has not yet reached twelve years of age."

He is charged with aggravated sexual abuse and abusive sexual contact. If convicted of the most serious crime, Gobert faces a minimum mandatory 30 years to life in prison, a $250,000 fine, and five years to life of supervised release.

Gobert, 37 years old, remains jailed in the Cascade County Detention Center. His trial is scheduled for February 3rd.

A press release from the U.S. Attorney's Office notes that the charging documents are merely accusations, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
