BUTTE — Susan Criss of Butte was charged Tuesday with killing a man by stabbing him in the neck.

Criss, 23 years old, was charged with felony deliberate homicide, according to charging documents in Butte Justice Court.

Criss is accused in the death of 49-year-old Mark William Woodger during a domestic incident at the apartment in Trinity Loop early Monday morning.

“There was a large amount of blood throughout the residence, he was basically on the floor, officer administered CPR, then he was taken to St. James where he subsequentially died,” said Butte Undersheriff George Skuletich.

Police said that Woodger and Criss just had a child together the week before. The child was in the apartment during the stabbing but was not injured.

“Any time there’s a homicide there’s a tragedy, but this child now has one parent in jail and the other parent’s deceased, so it’s a very difficult situation for all the families concerned,” said Skuletich.

Police said the baby was turned over to the custody of a relative.

Criss was taken into custody at the scene, and police reported she had minor injuries at the time.

Justice Jimm Kilmer set her bond at $100,000 and remanded her to jail.
