GREAT FALLS — Jacob Michael Fassett has been charged with assaulting fellow inmates in the Cascade County Detention Center.

Court documents allege that Fassett assaulted three inmates on separate occasions.

At least of the victims feared for his life when he was assaulted, and claimed that Fassett told him, "I'm gonna kill you, I'm gonna suffocate your ass." The victim told deputies that "fought to live."

After reviewing surveillance video of the incident, which supported the victim's allegations, the deputies talked with Fassett. Court documents say that Fassett said it was "just a couple of guys having a good time," and that the video "must have been comical." The deputies told Fassett that what they saw on the video was not "horseplay," and said the victim was pressing charges; Fassett replied that he did not believe them.

Officers then reviewed video of the other two incidents, both of which also supported allegations made the other two victims. The assaults reportedly included Fassett trying to choke one of the victims, and slamming him to the ground. The other victim reported that he initially thought that Fassett was "playing around with him," but then it escalated to "bouncing my head off the concrete."

Fassett has been charged with one count of felony aggravated assault, and two misdemeanor counts of assault.

According to the Montana Department of Corrections, Fassett has felony convictions in Cascade County for theft, criminal possession of dangerous drugs. He also has at least four DUI convictions, the most recent being in Jefferson County.
