Kennedy facing charges after reported stabbing

GREAT FALLS — Thomas Paul Kennedy was arrested in connection with a stabbing on Sunday night; he is currently in jail on charges of criminal possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The victim is said to be in stable condition at Benefis hospital.

Court documents state that at around 8 pm on Sunday, a police officer responded to the area near 8th Avenue North and 15th Street for a report of two men fighting near the Kernaghans convenience store. As officers were responding, Dispatch received another caII related to the disturbance where the caller reported a blonde man in a green jacket, later identified as Kennedy, had left the scene with a large knife, and the other man involved was walking northbound and bleeding from his stomach.

Officers found Kennedy and conducted a pat search; Kennedy said he had the knife on him, but officers couldn't find it. During the search, an officer found a broken syringe containing a clear Iiquid in his front pocket. Kennedy told the officers it was methamphetamine. The liquid in the syringe was consistent with methamphetamine.

Court documents state that Kennedy has criminal convictions in Wyoming, Colorado, Washington, and Oregon.

The investigation into the stabbing continues, and additional charges may be filed. We will update you as we get more information.
