Reward offered for information about the hit-and-run death of Hill County teen

GREAT FALLS — Police are asking the public for help after a 16-year old girl died after being hit by a vehicle near Box Elder last week.

On Thursday, December 12, at 11:11 pm, the Rocky Boy Police Department responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle on Laredo Road. Officers found an unresponsive female on the shoulder of the road. Medical attention was attempted but the juvenile female was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver left the area before officers arrived. The Rocky Boy Police Department believes the vehicle was a 2015 or 2016 Dodge Journey, which is a small SUV, and likely has damage to its front passenger side.

The victim has been identified as Lacey Kaide Arkinson.

The Chippewa Cree Tribe is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.

(DECEMBER 13, 2019) A teen girl died after being hit by a vehicle on the Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation in Hill County on Thursday night, and the suspect has not yet been apprehended.

The Havre Herald reports that the 16-year-old girl was hit by a Dodge Journey minivan after she ran out into the intersection of Buttercup and Laredo roads at about 11 p.m., according to the Montana Highway Patrol.

The teen died at the scene; her name has not yet been released. The suspect drove away and remains at large.

MHP trooper Kade Hill said pieces of the suspect’s vehicle were found at the scene. The vehicle is believed to be dark-colored.

The MHP is handling the crash investigation, while tribal police and the FBI are investigating the criminal aspect of the case.
