Shooting in Mineral County leaves 2 dead and 1 hospitalized

MISSOULA — The Mineral County Sheriff's Office has identified the two people who died in a shooting north of St. Regis on Saturday.

The Sheriff's Office says Anthony Dascher is identified as the suspect in the fatal shooting of his 7-year-old son. Dascher also allegedly shot his 4-year-old son who was life-flighted to a hospital in Spokane and is now on life support.

Dascher was found dead at the scene. Dascher is identified as an Oregon resident, though he was staying at a family residence north of St. Regis.

The woman who called dispatch was Dascher's mother.

(1st Report) Two people are dead and one is hospitalized after a shooting in Mineral County on Saturday at a residence three miles north of St. Regis.

Around 6 p.m. a shooting incident was reported to Mineral County Dispatch.

Officers arrived on scene to find three members of the same family victims of the shooting. Two were dead on scene. The third individual was severely injured and airlifted to a hospital in Spokane.

Mineral County Sheriff Mike Toth said there is no danger to the community because the suspect is one of the deceased.

Toth said Missoula County officials and Montana Division of Criminal Investigation assisted with the incident.

"We can't thank them enough for helping us with this God-awful scene," Toth said.

The incident is still being investigated and names have not yet been released.
